Our client needed a wide-angle camera that would be able to record footage at night and work as the thermal camera as well. Besides this, the device should have a gas sensor to measure air quality and light (intensity and quality) in the environment.
The device should be built around the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+, and powered over the ethernet. Beside the ethernet, the device should have a wireless connection over WiFi and Bluetooth.
One of the requirements was that development should be done in a minimum number of iterations.
We developed the periphery for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 3+ that included all of the required features.
The prototype we developed had two IR camera modules, two IR diodes, a gas sensor, DDR2-SODIMM slot for RPi CM3+, Bluetooth and WiFi antennas and Ethernet port (that would be used for power supply – PoE).
The drivers for WiFi and Bluetooth connection had to be configured. Adequate power supply for all of the components had to be provided since the device should be supplied in different ways (different voltage levels).
Fully functional prototype ready for small-batch manufacturing. This prototype is ready for tests in the real environment and should enable gathering valuable feedback used for further development.
